Your Computer doesn't get to hibernate, neither should you!

Your computer doesn’t get to hibernate, neither should you!

Before we jump into this blog we will answer a burning question.

Why does an office ergonomics company care so much about people getting active in and outside of work?

The answer is simple. Breaking down sedentary behaviour can help prevent many discomforts and improve your overall health! Ergo Mania is in the business of improving your time at work, so less discomfort and better health is right in our wheelhouse!

Now let’s chat about Canadians sedentary habits from this year. Participaction has come up with the 2019 physical activity report card for Canadian adults and it isn’t great. We received a D!  It is crazy that with our growing knowledge of the importance of physical activity we are scoring so low.

Here's your Base Guideline:
Moderate to vigorous physical activity for 150 minutes per week in bouts of 10 minutes or more.

Let’s do better - we know you want to! Almost 75% of Canadian adults are showing intention to get active within the next six months

To that we say why not start now?

The end of November is a great time to start getting active. The start of winter gets us to go outside and do some physical activity sometimes not by choice but by necessity. Take advantage of what mother nature has to offer and rise to the challenges she throws at you. For every snow flake that lands on your driveway meet it with a shovel. Shoveling works your cardio and your muscles it’s a two in one!

Tips for shoveling if you are getting back into fitness.

*Don’t wait a week to shovel your driveway. Shovel every so often during a big snowfall so you don’t have to stress your body too much.
*Warm-up
*Take your time.
*Break every so often to not completely exhaust yourself.
*Layer up! There will be sweat.
*Don’t fill up your shovel to the maximum capacity, take smaller loads instead.

Shoveling might seem like a simple task, but you can use it to make time for some physical activity in your life, whether that's for an hour or 10 minutes.  It's a task you have to do anyway, so why not make the most out of it?

Hang on to this notion, and remember that inserting movement into your life will make you feel better and rejuvenated for the day.
